Perhaps you can convince your pimp to raise your percentages for the summer. Just promise him a freebie and extra effort |

Hey mate looks like a great setup!
However.... I've recently been looking into this similar kind of setup, the advantages of the X79 are really quad channel memory and the 40 pci lanes also the fact it supports the 6 core processors, With the processor you have chosen its the quad core X79 not the hex(like the 3930k or 3960X)
From what graphics card you have chosen you will not be utilizing the 40 pci lanes that this X79 brings (To make use of this you would need 3 or 4 graphics cards).
Also with the ram you have obviously got a 4 channel kit there but if you want this PC for gaming you wont really notice the quad channel.
Don't get me wrong it is a very nice setup that you have chosen, it will run your games great! Just from the research I've done it looks like the 2600k would be a better value alternative for you, due to the fact of you not utilizing those 40 pci lanes. To get the value out of the stuff you have picked you would need more graphics cards and the 3930k or 3960X which are priced stupidly expensive.
If you are looking into overclocking the 2600k would again be a better choice.
Lastly what has stopped me buying into the X79 is that in April Intel is set to release Ivy Bridge. This will come with the new z77 chipset. This is set to give a 20 percent performance improvement over current Sandy Bridge chips and 20 percent less power consumption. And be a great overclocker.
You would get all this ^^^ at a lower price probably too. Or when Ivy Bridge turns up the current Sandy Bridge 2600K will have a price drop, this money saved could prob be spent on another of those graphics cards
Like I said before somewhere in this HUGE post, its your build and if the stuff you have chosen is required then go for it. Im just informing you of whats on Intel's doorstep
The new 3770K Ivy Bridge
Food for thought.

All this stuff will change by the end of summer anyways. I would try to go with ivy bridge as meshy said, and don't forget to get a cpu cooler. The 448 core 560ti is pretty decent, but you might be able to get a 670 for a decent price by then. If budget allows, you could get a small 60gig SSD to put windows on. |

Dynasty,
For what its worth, your a young kid who should be saving your $ for college or your future. Most of us are older and have a steady source of income so throwing $1500 down isnt too bad. To be honest you can get a great gaming computer for around $500-$700 with negligible difference in performance if you buy a stock one. If my son wanted a gaming rig my advice to him would be the same Im giving you.
sign up for Dell Outlet coupons or check their Dell twitter account for coupons. They usually throw out coupons on desktops and laptops every few weeks. Wait for a desktop coupon which is usually 15-25% off.
Look for a Dell XPS 8300 which is their best bang for the buck gaming system. Search their database 40 minutes after the hour. Ex. 8:40; 9:40; 10:40 etc that is when they drop new inventory into the database. Since these are all one of a kinds just add them to your cart and look at the specs later since most people are aware of the drops. Prices for a i7 should be around $500-$650. Just look at processor and ram and get the cheapest one, dont look at the video card cause it usually sucks. Pick the best one, use a coupon then upon receipt check it out to see if its in good order. Torture test it for a few days to make sure everything is solid. Call Dell up and cancel the warranty. Should be around $180 back. Use your extra $ to buy a decent video card, an ssd and some extra ram. The stock components should hold up just fine.
You can use the same advice as above to pick up an Aurura 3 alienware computer. Last year I picked up a Core I7 with a nice high end video card which I sold for $650. Kept the rest of the system and threw in my 6950. Overall cost for me was around $550-650 for the Alienware. Eventually I sold the 6950 and threw in a gtx 580 from another alienware I bought.
Just think in a few years whatever machine you build now will be obsolete. Throwing $1500 down every few years is not realistic at your age unless your loaded. Just my 2cents. |

I'm probably the worst to give advice on priorities but maybe you should play less and learn to read!!! |

Dell, Lenovo, HP Compaq, etc are all manufactured by the same 3-4 odms in Taiwan. Aside from features, your not missing much by building your own. Just overclocking and stuff. Not worth 2x the cost. Yeah, you should spend more time studying. |
